Tausha's sugar cookies
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup margarine or shortening or butter softened
Two eggs
3 T sweet or sour cream or milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
3 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Gradually add sugar to shortening and beat till fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add cream and flavorings. Stir in flour and soda and salt and mix well. Chill.
Roll to a 1/2-1/4 inch thick and cut out using cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for for 69 minutes at 400°
Moms cheese filled Roma meatloaf
1 pound hamburger
One egg beaten
3/4 cup cracker crumbs
1/2 c Chopped onions
Half a teaspoon oregano
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
8 ounces of tomato sauce
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
Combined all ingredients except tomato sauce and cheese. Roll flat. Put cheese in the middle and roll to form log, sealing ends. Cover and Bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Uncover, Top with tomato sauce. Bake 15 minutes more.
Moms easy fudge
4 cups mini marshmallows
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter
One 1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 ounces of chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together first 5 ingredients and cook for five minutes over medium heat. stir in chocolate chips. Fold in vanilla and nuts if you want.
Mom's orange chocolate chip cookies
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 ounces of cream cheese
Two eggs
2 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
Cream shortening, sugar, cream cheese. Add eggs, orange juice, rind. Sift flour, salt and add.
Stir in chocolate chips. Drop on cookie sheet and bake 10 to 20 minutes at 350.
Frost with icing.
Icing:
One package 3 ounce cream cheese
1 teaspoon orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
2 cups powdered sugar
Gradually stir in sugar and cream cheese. Stir in orange juice and rind
Homemade chicken noodle soup
One whole fryer cooked in 2 quarts water (I find it easier to use a whole chicken cut up or chicken pieces already cut up. Can be cooked in the crockpot if needs to be prepared ahead. When cooked, remove all chicken pieces from broth and remove skins and debone and chop into bite-size pieces)
Add the following items to the broth: Chopped onion, Parsley, ball leaves, garlic, sliced carrots, chopped celery, sage, salt, pepper, cut up potatoes, chicken broth or chicken bullion
when all items are cooked add homemade egg noodles and cook till they are soft. Can also add optional frozen peas.
Lisa's Apple and Almond salad
Dressing:
1/4 cup oil
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Salad:
One package of Romain lettuce
One package Greenleaf lettuce
One Apple chopped
One avocado chopped
One small can mandarin oranges,drained
One stalk of celery chopped
1/2 cup currants or Craisins
4 green onion sliced
1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
1/2 cup candied almonds (can be made by taking 2 tablespoons of sugar to regular almonds and cooking on stovetop
Overnight crème brûlée cinnamon French toast
The milk can be substituted with half-and-half for it to be more creamy. Also I like to add in a pinch of cinnamon and vanilla and use butter instead of margarine.
Crockpot barbecue chicken breasts.
Six chicken breasts
One bottle of barbecue sauce
1/2 cup Italian dressing
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcester sauce
Cook in the crockpot for 3 to 8 hours. Serve over rolls.
